Loophole eliminates private donation limits

SPRINGFIELD -- The candidates vying to become the state's next governor are being thrown a curve-ball.
SPRINGFIELD -- The candidates vying to become the state's next governor are being thrown a curve-ball. Normally there are limits on how much money each can get from private donors.

But, Republican hopeful, Bruce Rauner, triggered a loophole. He donated more than a quarter million dollars of his own money to his campaign fund. It means those limits don't exist anymore for anyone who's running.

Contribution limits are a fairly new thing in Illinois. The goal is to level the playing field among all candidates.
