CHAMPAIGN -- Locally, people took time to remember the 12th anniversary of the terrorist attacks. Dozens gathered in West Side Park for bagpipes, speakers and a moment of silence.

One of those attending was Chris Hanson. He's Champaign's Firefighter of the Year. He marched at the memorial in New York on the 1st anniversary. Hanson got the carry the Illinois State Flag. He'll never forget his band of brothers and says we shouldn't either.

One of the New York firefighters killed in 9/11 taught classes to members of the Champaign Fire Department.
