CHAMPAIGN -- Mayor Don Gerard is named in a civil lawsuit. An order of protection for stalking was filed in Champaign County Court Thursday.

The suit was filed on behalf of Laura Huth. She's the CEO of  Do Good Consulting in Urbana. Her attorney says his client has evidence proving Mayor Gerard has been stalking her, but wouldn't go into details.

Gerard says the two dated, but broke up about six  months ago, and says he hasn't spoken to her in three months, so he's not sure where the accusations are coming from. The pair was often seen together in public at fundraisers and events.

Gerard did state they're in the middle of a financial dispute. Gerard's attorney says Huth claims Gerard owes her money for consulting work, but he says there was never a contract, so his client doesn't owe her anything. Huth also served two years on the Urbana City Council.

The online summary for the case doesn't list a court date. And Gerard's attorney says his client hasn't been served. However, Huth's lawyer says a hearing has been scheduled for next month.
