Nebraska crushes Illinois in B1G opener

Nebraska scored the first 17 points of the game and never looked back, crushing Illinois 39-19 in the Big Ten opener for both teams Saturday in Lincoln.
LINCOLN, NE. -- Nebraska scored the first 17 points of the game and never looked back, crushing Illinois 39-19 in the Big Ten opener for both teams Saturday in Lincoln.

Sophomore running back Josh Ferguson led the Illini with 114 yards on 19 carries and another 82 yards on eight catches.  Senior quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase threw for 135 yards and an interception, the first game this season he hasn't thrown a touchdown pass. 

Illinois (3-2, 0-1) has now lost 15 straight Big Ten Conference games.  The Illini have next week off before hosting Wisconsin on Oct. 19.
