One person dead after hit and run

<span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">COLES COUNTY -- One person is dead and four others injured after a hit and run over the weekend.</span>

COLES COUNTY -- One person is dead and four others injured after a hit and run over the weekend. It happened Saturday around 9:15 pm on Lincoln County Road near the Bent Tree Golf Course. Officials say five people were riding bikes when a driver hit the bikers, then fled the area. 

Detectives say they found the driver about three hours later. 
Samuel Meadows, 21, of Charleston, is charged with driving under the influence and leaving the scene of a fatal accident. Detectives say he was driving a mint green Ford Taurus when he hit the bicyclists. 

Officers say Leonard Beachy, 16, of Flat Rock died from his injuries.
The other victims involved include Timothy Zehr, 19, Jonathan Beachy, 24, Truman Beachy, 27. All are also from Flat Rock and were taken to Sara Bush Lincoln Health Center, while Javin Lehman, 20, of Robinson, was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital. No word on the extent of their injuries.

Meadows is being held pending a court appearance and bond hearing.
