Police need tips in car break-ins

SPRINGFIELD -- Police are investigating a string of car break-ins.
SPRINGFIELD -- Police are investigating a string of car break-ins. It happened in the early morning hours of July 30, in the central-west part of town.

The cars were on Cook, Glenwood, South 5th and Walnut Street Court. One car after another was vandalized while it was still dark out.

Windows were smashed causing about $2,000 in damage. The value of items taken from inside cars is about $500.

Investigators say four young men were seen in an alley near one of the cars. They don't know if they were involved, but want to talk to them. All were wearing gray, orange, white and black shirts or jackets.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers. You can remain anonymous and may earn a cash reward.
