Police watching for distracted holiday drivers

CHAMPAIGN -- Police remind drivers to be careful as Labor Day weekend wraps up. AAA estimates most travelers will head home Monday night. More drivers are on the road and it's likely many have done some drinking this weekend.

Police say they won't have extra patrols, but the officers who are working will be more visible. They say it helps if drivers pay attention too.

"People are really good about calling us," said officer Jerad Gale. "If they see something going wrong, they'll let us know, which is always helpful for us because we can't be everywhere all the time so it's sort of like having a whole lot of police officers on the road all at once."

Police say it's been a pretty peaceful weekend so far. They say if you see any drivers who look out of line, call police or 911.
