Possible murder suspect in custody

URBANA -- A University of Illinois student is dead and her ex-boyfriend in custody. Yongfei Ci is accused of killing her.

Police found the 25-year old victim inside an apartment in the 1300-block of North Lincoln Avenue. They say her roommate was tied down, but was able to get free. She ran outside and yelled for help.

Police say Ci called 911 and said he wanted to surrender. They found him at a Champaign motel Friday afternoon.

Investigators have not said how the victim died, nor have they released her name.

URBANA -- Police say a UI student was killed by her ex-boyfriend. It happened about 10 am Friday in 1 South Apartments, in the 1300-block of Lincoln Avenue.

The victim's roommate was bound during the murder. She broke free, ran outside and screamed her roommate had been killed.

Police arrested Yongfei Ci Friday afternoon. He's a sixth-year UI PhD student according to his webpage. Authorities aren't releasing the victim's name, but did say she was a grad student in her late 20's.

URBANA -- Police have a possible murder suspect in custody. The victim is a woman in her 20's who was killed after 11:30 am Friday in the 1300-block of North Lincoln Avenue. 

Police say a woman ran into the apartment complex courtyard screaming her roommate had been killed. The woman had been tied up during the murder.

Investigators tracked the suspect's cellphone and located 29-year old Yongfei Ci at a motel in Champaign about 1:20 pm.

URBANA -- Police are searching for 29-year old Yongfei Ci. He's wanted in connection with a homicide which happened in the 1300-block of North Lincoln Avenue.

He was last seen wearing a green, beanie-style hat, white shirt with blue sleeves and carrying a backpack. He's believed to be driving a blue, 4-door Toyota, license plate, L 152 668.
