DECATUR -- An Illinois Senator is throwing his support behind action in Syria. Senator Dick Durbin (D) voted in favor of a limited strike on the country.

He says there's enough evidence to prove the Syrian government used chemical weapons on its own people. Durbin says Congress will vote on the matter soon, and he's supportive as long as no American soldiers are sent in.

"180 nations from all around the world agreed chemical weapons are absolutely unacceptable in combat. Now, (Assad) uses it and the question is what will the world do in response. The President has taken an unpopular and tough position. I understand it and I'll support it as long as it's strictly limited."

Durbin was visiting Richland Community College to lobby for a new bill to give grant funding to community colleges across the country.
