INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION -- NASA has ordered a series of urgent spacewalks to make repairs at the International Space Station. A UI grad has been assigned to the important job.

NASA says Michael Hopkins is one of two astronauts who'll complete the mission. They'll have to do a walk Saturday, Monday and again on Christmas Day to make the repairs.

INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION -- NASA scaled back operations on the ISS Wednesday after detecting a problem with a cooling system. A spokesperson says one of two cooling pumps was producing too much ammonia.

Authorities are trying to determine whether a spacewalk may be required to fix it. Non-critical systems on the ISS have been shut down as authorities trouble-shoot the problem.

UI graduate, Mike Hopkins, is part of the crew on the station. NASA says the six-person crew is not in danger.
