SPRINGFIELD -- State officials are revealing more about the new Health Insurance Marketplace that's set to open October 1. Get Covered Illinois will provide residents with a one-stop shop to get insured under the Affordable Care Act.

It will be the only official website where Illinois residents can compare eight different insurance company offerings side-by-side. The uninsured will have until the end of March to buy health insurance through the site.

The Affordable Care Act requires nearly all Americans to have health insurance. State officials expect at least 300,000 people will sign up for coverage using the new options available through ACA.

The "Get Covered Illinois" brand and logo are part of a multi-million dollar ad campaign running through the fall and winter. Open enrollment starts October 1 and goes until March.

But on September 30, you can tune into WCIA-3 News to learn more. We're having a Healthcare Awareness Day. From 5 am - 10 pm, we'll have special coverage on all of our newscasts about the plan.
