State's Attorney dead at 55

Update: 10:16 am, 12/10/13, Tuesday CENTRAL ILLINOIS -- After reviewing medical documents, the Menard County Coroner's Office determined the cause of death for Kenneth Baumgarten to be from a pulmonary embolism.

CENTRAL ILLINOIS -- After reviewing medical documents, the Menard County Coroner's Office determined the cause of death for Kenneth Baumgarten to be from a pulmonary embolism.

His death is certified accidental. The pulmonary embolism was caused by an injury Baumgarten sustained in early November.

PETERSBURG -- A Menard County State's Attorney has died. Kenneth Baumgarten died Friday after being taken to the emergency room.

The coroner says the death was from natural causes. Baugarten served as State's Attorney for more than 15 years.
