Stricker solid in JDC opening round

Five former Illini tee off in round one of John Deere Classic
SILVIS, Ill. - Round one of the John Deere Classic is in the books, and former Illini Steve Stricker is in a familiar position - near the top of the leaderboard.  Stricker, a 3-time winner at the John Deere, shot a first round (-4) 67.  He is three shots behind co-leaders Zach Johnson and Camilo Villegas.

Thursday was also a good day for Joe Affrunti and Scott Langley.  Langley fired an opening round (-3) 68 after missing the cut in his only previous John Deere Classic appearance.  Affrunti (-2) is in good position after opening with a 69.

It was a rough first round for Luke Guthrie and D.A. Points.  Points shot a +1 (72), and Guthrie fell victim to a double-bogey and triple-bogey on his way to a +5.
