UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS -- An effort to create more jobs in the state is also giving students a more comfortable learning environment. Thursday, it was announced three buildings at UI are getting upgrades.

The law building is one of three on the list. Heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems will be upgraded. The same will happen at Everitt Laboratory. Those projects are expected to cost nearly $600,000.

At the Main Library, a $1-million renovation project will get underway. On that to-do list is fixing windows, cleaning stone work in the courtyard and replacing art glass windows in the reading room.

All together, it's about a $1.6-million makeover. The projects are a part of the Illinois Jobs Now Program.

It's a plan which will create about 400,000 jobs in the state during a six-year span. The renovations are expected to create about fifteen jobs on campus.
