CHAMPAIGN -- The top 10 sports stories from Central Illinois in 2013.

10.  Illinois' Olympic sports had a lot of success in 2013.  Sophomore wrestler Jesse Delgado won a national championship at 125 pounds, the first Illini to accomplish the feat at that weight.  The volleyball team made it all the way to the Sweet 16, losing to Purdue at State Farm Center.  In May, the nation's best collegiate tennis players invaded Champaign-Urbana, the host of the NCAA tournament.  On the track, Ashley Spencer won her second NCAA title in the 400 meters before following coach Tonjka Bufiord-Bailey to Texas, where she became the associate head coach.

9.  The St. Joseph-Ogden boys basketball team had a record setting season, finishing fourth at the Class 2A state tournament, the best finish in school history.

8.  The St. Thomas More girls basketball team also made a run to the state finals, finishing runner-up at the Class 2A finals behind a strong performance from standout freshman Tori McCoy.

7.  St. Joseph-Ogden made it all the way to the state football finals in Class 3A, losing in the title game to Stillman Valley.  It was the fifth runner-up finish for longtime head coach Dick Duval.

6.  The Rochester Rockets won their fourth straight football title in Class 4A, the first time a public school has ever won four straight championships in Illinois.
