SPRINGFIELD -- The woman holding the state's purse strings wants to keep holding on.
SPRINGFIELD -- The woman holding the state's purse strings wants to keep holding on. Republican Judy Baar Topinka announced this week she'll seek four more years as Illinois Comptroller.

Topinka will face current Lieutenant Governor Sheila Simon in next year's election. She ran for governor in 2006, but was defeated by former Governor Rod Blagojevich.
