UI defense lacking pressure

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska exposed one of Illinois' biggest weaknesses Saturday.  They controlled Illinois' inexperienced and undersized defensive line, making things pretty easy on the Huskers offense.

Fans expected Illinois' defensive line to struggle this year, and they are.  They are dead last in the Big Ten in sacking opposing quarterbacks, and they were out-manned physically Saturday by Nebraska's much bigger, much more experienced offensive line.

"We have to continue to make strides on tackling better," said head coach Tim Beckman.  "We were just out-physicalled at times up front with Nebraska's offensive line and and our defensive line.  We have to continue to try to find ways to enable our players to be successful."
