Vets can use service to get licensed quicker

SPRINGFIELD -- It will soon be easier for some Illinois' veterans to get jobs right after being discharged.
SPRINGFIELD -- It will soon be easier for some Illinois' veterans to get jobs right after being discharged. The state will accept military service in place of some training for certain job licenses.

For example, if you were a medic during your service, you could get your nursing or EMT license quicker. Supporters say this will be a big help in cutting down on veteran unemployment.

The program will also apply to veterans who have military police training and want to become involved in law enforcement. A similar law is already in place for veterans with commercial truck driving experience.
