This Day In Weather History1903- Several tornadoes moved across northern and central Illinois during the late afternoon and early evening. The two most significant tornadoes occurred in LaSalle County, affecting the towns of Mendota and Steator. Ten people were killed by the two storms. Five of the deaths occurred at a race track, where people were taking shelter under a grandstand when it collapsed.
