CHICAGO -- Here in the Midwest, it's like Christmas in March for Chicagoans. It's St. Patrick's Day and everyone is celebrating.

Bagpipers and drummers led the way down Columbus Drive as thousands lined the streets to celebrate. Leprechauns handed out beads and treats, but the day started early as the city dyed the Chicago River green for the 51st year.

The dye, which is actually orange, is a vegetable dye used by plumbers to detect illegal sewage dumping. The recipe is a closely-guarded secret the plumbers are not willing to share.
