Motivational Monday: Mental health resolutions

So many people make news years resolutions related to their physical wellbeing or financial stability and don't address their mental health, but that is extremely important and when we feel mentally stable and grounded we have a better chance of achieving our other goals.

1. I will treat myself with respect and speak nicely about myself.  Our mental tape that is always running can either give us strength and motivation or tear us down.  Try taping a list of 10 positive characteristics about yourself in various places throughout the house or office to remind you of these things.

2. I will learn to relax and enjoy.  Many times we become so busy we forget how or even when to take crae of ourselves.  Take a yoga or meditation class.  Find an activity that is relaxing and enjoyable to you and dedicate time to this daily.

3.  I will be mindful.  Being mindful is about staying in the moment.  I cannot change yesterday and cannot predict tomorrow but I do have control over the here and now.

4. I will not be hard on myself if I make resolutions and do not keep them.  I may realize that it will take more time than I thought to work on issues and I will look as this a good thing and opportunity for growth, not a bad thing.  I do not fail by trying.
