WCIA 3, The Local News Leader in central Illinois, has a unique opening for a multi-talented and versatile television news journalist. The position involves a hybrid of producing and anchoring. The person selected for this position will produce an established evening newscast on our primary station, and produce / anchor a weeknight evening newscast on our secondary channel. Successful candidate will have fresh ideas, strong news judgment, excellent writing and communication skills, an understanding of social media and a track record of leveraging production elements to deliver a compelling newscast. A college degree in broadcast news or equivalent is required, as well as at least 1 year of news producing experience at a commercial television station. We offer a unique opportunity for someone with talents in promotion and a passion for working in TV. You must be a highly creative and motivated person who possesses proven non-linear editing, writing, photography, producing and storytelling capabilities. The HD production tools are here just waiting for your ideas and concepts to drive them. Experience with Adobe products such as AfterEffects and Photoshop a plus.

You'll be a driving creative force on WCIX 49, the MyNetwork station, along with working on news image, sweeps, and projects for WCIA 3 the CBS affiliate.

Internships


Internships are available for the following Departments: Newsroom, Sports, Weather, ciLiving, Production, and 509 Creative.

Qualifications:

    • Candidate is entering junior year of college/university.
    • Completed or currently enrolled in Broadcasting/Journalism classes
    • You must receive credit for the internship spring/fall/summer semesters
    • Candidate's experience with TV writing and editing is a plus
    • Hours per week: 12 hours during the school year 20 hours during the summer
    • Additional hours will be considered with academic counselor approval
