We saw a bit of improvement in this week's drought monitor, with a large part of the area still "abnormally dry." That's the lowest category of drought. In fact, most of central Illinois is no longer in a drought category. You can get more on the drought categories in our Weather 101 Section.
Looking ahead, the 8 to 14 day forecast is looking to bring us below-normal rainfall amounts, so little help will be available for these dry areas.
