This Day In Weather History

1988 - The northern 2/3 of the state dealt with a round of severe weather that brought baseball sized hail and 70+ mph winds.  Galesburg reported the baseball sized hail where 700 cars and many homes were damaged for a total of $10 million.  A 77 mph wind gust was reported along with golf ball sized hail in East St. Louis.  Taylorville also had a 70 mph wind gust and Decatur reached 69 mph.
