This Day In Weather History1950 - A tornado struck Momence (Kankakee County). A concrete block store was destroyed and other buildings were damage on the southeast side of town. A 20 foot long steel beam was driven into the ground.
1977 - A 28 day streak of Springfield being below 32 came to an end the next day. At the end of the month, the city saw new records established for monthly snowfall (21.7 inches) and average January temperature (10.3 degrees).
