This Day In Weather History1961 - A tornado injured 8 people as it tracked from Quincy to Macomb. Another tornado destroyed several buildings in Sangamon County as it moved from New Berlin to near Pleasant Plains.
1980 - A late-season, 3-day snowstorm produced a total of 7.3 inches of snow in Springfield, with 6.1 of those inches falling on this date.
1985 - Northward moving storms formed in Dewitt County and produced a 73 mph wind gust at the Bloomington Airport. In Wenona (Marshall County), wind up to 100 mph destroyed several barns and farm buildings. 2 inch diameter hail was reported in LaSalle County along with 60 mph winds. In the town of Medota, nearly every building in town sustained some damage
1994 - Heavy rain from the 11th rose central Illinois rivers to record breaking levels. The Vermilion River at Danville reached 31.6 feet, nearly 14 feet above flood stage, setting a new record. Damage to the water treatment plant was estimated at $10 million.
