The first weekend was much calmer with clearer skies. Highs were in the 50s for Saturday and into the 60s for Sunday. However, Monday, the 7th, was rainy again with most of the area seeing around one half to three quarters of an inch of rain. Tuesday was a beautiful day with sunny skies and temperatures in the 60s. A few isolated showers spotted the area beginning in the late afternoon hours. Wednesday started a nice warm-up with temperatures staying in the 60s and Thursday was breezy but into the 70s. Also, Thursday afternoon saw thunderstorms as a fairly weak cold front moved through the area. Friday also saw a few storms along I-70 as the front stalled out in southern Illinois.
Saturday, the 12th, was a breezy but warm day with highs in the middle 70s and Sunday was simliar. However, Sunday saw storms, mostly in the evening that brought some heavier rain. By Monday, the 14th, rain was still falling and temperatures were dropping. Monday's highs were only around 50 and it was a rainy and cloudy day. During the evening hours we even saw a few snowflakes. Tuesday only had highs in the lower 40s after a hard freeze to start the day. A few places even reported flurries during the day on Tuesday. Wednesday also started very cold with temperatures around 30, but by the end of the day, strong southerly winds had pushed highs in the the middle 50s. Thursday was even better with highs in the 60s and less wind. However, Thursday night brought us a round of light rain that lasted into early Friday. However, Friday recovered well will highs back into the lower 60s.
Easter weekend was a great weekend to kick off Spring with highs both days in the 70s and a few 80s on Sunday. Spring-like thunderstorms arrived for Monday, the 21st through and brought some areas around 0.25" of rain. We cooled back down to near normal for Tuesday with highs in the middle 60s and had a repeat into Wednesday. A few storms were around for Wednesday, but mostly during the evening and they remained isolated. Thursday was a bit of a repeat with a dry morning, but afternoon and evening storms and temperatures in the 70s. Thankfully the rain was out of here for Friday and Saturday for the Illinois Marathon. Highs were in the 70s on Friday, but in the 60s for highs on Saturday, which was better for runners!
Weather took a turn towards soggy on Sunday with scattered shower and storms arriving. Monday also had storms that were very close to severe limits. Enough so, that a large part of the area was under a tornado watch for most of the afternoon and evening. Tuesday continued the wet streak with scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Wednesday, the last day of the month was also a bit wet, but not as much as the previous day.
